Photographs can document visible findings and help explain completed work. They supplement assessment without showing every internal change in the tooth. Ask about the purpose, storage and access arrangements; using photographs in public materials should be discussed separately from treatment and the clinical record.
Describe when the injury happened, which teeth were involved and any colour or sensation changes. Its consequences are assessed alongside examination and necessary investigations. Even an older event may be relevant to the tooth's history when deciding on further assessment, treatment or monitoring.
Tongue cleaning addresses its surface and may form part of overall oral hygiene. It does not clean plaque from tooth surfaces and interdental spaces. Discuss persistent breath concerns with a dentist and agree on a gentle cleaning technique that avoids injuring the tissues during daily care.
The plan should unambiguously identify the tooth concerned. Ask to have it pointed out in the mouth and on available imaging, especially when several nearby areas are problematic. This lets you check your understanding of the recommendation, alternatives and later restoration before the procedure begins.
Clarify review arrangements, whom to contact after damage and whether the proposed design allows adjustments. Every future problem cannot be predicted, but service arrangements can be discussed beforehand. Ask which restoration records to keep and share if another clinician later becomes involved in your care.
Describe when it occurs, changes in eating and anything you have noticed. These observations support the discussion while examination establishes the source. Avoid expecting an exact self-diagnosis from the child; share their own words alongside your observations, distinguishing what they report from your interpretation.
